The question now is what trashed WMI.

I can see shortcuts being deleted after uninstalling an app, but why would they be deleted after an update?

UPDATE: I think I may have resolved this issue and both Windows 11 Pro computers - laptop & desktop - at least partially.

Laptop Resolution: In reviewing Task Scheduler, I noticed that PatchMyPC and IObit's Advanced SystemCare were both scheduled to run daily at 7 pm. So suspecting that they may have been in conflict or competing, I changed PatchMyPC to scan & update at 7:30 pm.

Desktop Resolution: In reviewing Task Scheduler, I noticed that the PatchMyPC task was triggered on schedule, but was stuck on "running" status. So I decided to do a thorough uninstall, reboot, and reinstall and set the scheduler for 9 pm.

Now the logs on both computers are showing the following:

[2025-04-24 21:00:00]  INFO  Update from Scheduled Task has been started.
[2025-04-24 21:00:01]  INFO  No applications to update/install. Exit task.
[2025-04-24 21:00:01]  INFO  Update from Scheduled Task has been finished.

Next I will check to see if apps are silently updated when the there are outdated apps.

It appears it is currently running in your screenshot? Are you still having issues where it's not running.

Quote from: CarefulOwner on April 23, 2025, 09:53:56 PMThe KeePass Password Safe app has two different editions: the 1.x edition and the 2.x edition, with slightly different features.  (See https://keepass.info/compare.html for the differences.)  I am using the 1.x edition, currently at release 1.43.  Patch My PC Home Updater is telling me that this release is outdated, and should be replaced with release 2.58.  This is incorrect, 1.43 is the correct current release of the 1.x edition.  Can you modify the Updater to distinguish between the two editions?

Thank you

@CarefulOwner thanks for reporting this, I'm checking with the team on this one. For now, please disable scanning for this app to avoid it from updating to v2. We may need to build functionality to account for this scenario.

Quote from: 802geek on March 21, 2025, 09:36:33 AMWe have added a config file I would like to add in the Intune application detection method Patch my PC published. My question is, when Patch my PC creates a newer version, will it copy over custom detection Crazy Cattle 3D methods I add when it creates the new updated application?
No, Patch My PC will overwrite custom detection methods during updates. You'll need to reapply them after each new version unless you use a pre/post-script to automate it.

After updating some software on my computer, I noticed that the shortcuts on the screen are missing or have changed icons. Has anyone encountered this and knows how to fix it so that after updating the software, the shortcuts remain the same as before? :'(
