Working on a custom app for Vernier Graphical Analysis software. The current DisplayVersion is 6.2.1-3963, but PatchMyPC appears to move the -3963 after the app name in SCCM.
It appears like this: Vernier Graphical Analysis -3963 (x64/EXE/en)
Going off of this doc https://docs.patchmypc.com/patch-my-pc-cloud/custom-apps/create-a-custom-app/custom-apps-configuration-tab
I have the DisplayName set to "Vernier Graphical Analysis%" and the deployment installs properly but does not detect.
So it seems like everything from the dash on it's being recognised? I am copy/pasting direct from the registry.
DisplayName is "Vernier Graphical Analysis 6.2.1-3963"

Try using 6.2.1.3963 for the version number within the PMPC Portal.

Our default detection script should automatically switch '-' characters to '.' when doing detection.

I just did a quick test, and the detection does seem to work on Vernier Graphical Analysis 6.2.1-3963 with the following configuration

Apps and Features Name: Vernier Graphical Analysis %-3963

If you edit your custom app and under the configuration tab, for Apps & Features Name, what do you have set?

If you are still having issues with install/detection please let us know.

I misspoke. Apps & Features Name is "Vernier Graphical Analysis%" so that the wildcard would apply for possible version changes.

I could change it to "Vernier Graphical Analysis %-3963" but it seems that the "-3963" is some sort of build number. Could I just use "Vernier Graphical Analysis %"? I did try "Vernier Graphical Analysis%" but that failed.

Apologies, I don't think I fully understood what you meant at first.

For the 'App Name' under the '2. General Information' tab, just use 'Vernier Graphical Analysis'. This field is purely for what it looks like in the Cloud Portal, and within ConfigMgr.

Then you can leave the 'Apps & Features Name' as 'Vernier Graphical Analysis %' for detection.

OK. App Name has always ever been "Vernier Graphical Analysis" here, but I will try "Vernier Graphical Analysis %" for Apps & Features Name and not "Vernier Graphical Analysis %-3963" as previously advised. I will give that a shot, as App Name displayed in SCCM still reads "Vernier Graphical Analysis -3963 (x64/EXE/en)" even after I changed Apps & Features Name to "Vernier Graphical Analysis %-3963". Should I perhaps delete the app on SCCM and re-sync with publisher? Deselect and reselect the custom app?

If you've already changed the 'App Name' to Vernier Graphical Analysis' for the custom app, but you are not seeing that change in Configuration Manager, once the changes refresh in the Publisher, it looks like you'd have to delete and recreate the app to see the name change in the console. I didn't see the name change successful with just a sync or republish. You can use the Configuration Manager App Manager to delete the app https://patchmypc.com/kb/delete-apps-configmgr-manager/. Attaching a screenshot of what I have in the console, after changing the App name to reflect Michael's previously sent screenshots.

The Apps & Features name would affect detection, and both Vernier Graphical Analysis % and Vernier Graphical Analysis %-3963 should work, I tested the latter successfully. The display name that shows in the registry after installation is Vernier Graphical Analysis 6.2.1-3963.

If you have any installation issues, including detection I'd recommend opening a support case with us, so we can get on a screenshare and troubleshoot this further. https://patchmypc.com/technical-support/
