I'm unable to patch three programs on Windows 10 Pro (64 bit). I'm receiving this message: Alert. We are sorry, but there was an error. Message: Value cannot be null. (Parameter 'Path1'). The programs that cannot update are: DesktopOK (x64), Display Driver Uninstaller, and Tor Browser.

I reset all settings to default. I uninstalled Patch My PC Home Updater with Revo Uninstaller, rebooted, then installed Patch My PC Home Updater. This did not fix the problem.

If you are still having the above problem and have not already done the following, you might try uninstalling one of your affected program from within Home Updater. Then exit Home Updater, verify the program has actually been uninstalled in Windows, relaunch Home Updater, and reinstall the affected program using Home Updater.

If it does install, verify that version is up-to-date.

If does not install or has some other issue, you many need to reinstall the affected program from Windows.

Thank you for yout reply. The problem is solved. I used the "winver" command to learn I was using an older version of Windows 10. I upgraded to the newest version, along with all windows updates. The problem no longers exists.

1. To clarify the problem and fix for future reference: When you were encountering the problem, what build of Windows 10 we're you running on: (1) the latest feature update 22H2 (19045) but just not with the latest updates installed (19045.xxxx) or (2) some earlier and unsupported feature update, such as 21H2 (19044), 21H1 (19043), etc.?

The stated System Requirements for Home Updater are:

Internet access
Microsoft Windows Desktop Runtime 8.0 (64-Bit)
A 64-bit version of Windows that supported by Microsoft
Operating System:
Windows Client: Windows 10 or later
Windows Server: Windows Server 2016 or later

The only Windows 10 Client supported by Microsoft is:

Version: 22H2
Service Option: General Availability Channel
Availability Date: 2022-10-18
Build: 19045

Ref. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-health/supported-versions-windows-client

The latest build with Extended Security Updates (ESU) is: 19045.7663 (as of Aug 2026)
The latest build at the end of standard support (Oct 2025) is: 19045.6456.

2. A 'MARK SOLVED' button is available at the top right of the originator's view of his topic. When satisfied, the originator should click on it to show that the issue is resolved and is listed in green. Given there is basically no developer-provided documentation for Home Updater and support from the PMPC staff is limited and sporadic, it is important that problems and solutions be well documented by users of this forum and be available for other users to learn from.
