v5 not respecting the option to delete Desktop shortcuts?

This week just installed v5.2.3.0 after being prompted to from the old v4.5.

Never had an issue with Desktop shortcuts before, the old version would always delete them after updates.

Now, I'm noticing quite a few apps are not respecting the tick box in "Settings > Appearance Options > Remove Desktop shortcuts for apps after installation".

Some recent examples today: Firefox, NVidia app, VirtualBox, Bitwarden.

Is this a known issue in this new version? Still on Windows 10 22H2.

Thanks!

We are taking a look and will ensure we have the right names if they are not.

Any update on this one? I've noticed a couple more apps doing this recently unfortunately I just deleted them mindlessly without taking note of names haha. Is it an underlying problem with the new publisher or app specific?]

Thanks

Just to say this is still happening, Firefox and Webex both just repeated the behaviour.

We didn't notice this issue with any of these apps, and we don't have any Webex app in the home updater.
Are you sure the option is enabled?

ashearera

Yes, the option is enabled.

I'm looking at your list of applications in Publisher V5 and and one of them is:

CiscoMeetingDaemon
Publisher: Cisco Webex LLC
Source: \\<userprofile>\AppData\Local\WebEx\WebExHost.exe

So it maybe isn't known as WebEx anymore but it certainly is in your list of apps.

Hi,

Just following up. This issue is still happening 7 weeks on, most recent run affecting Firefox and VirtualBox.

To be honest, the v5 update has introduced more issues than I ever had with the previous version. Between this ongoing desktop icon problem and the slow resolution, I'm starting to look at alternative solutions.

Thanks

Hi,

I'm experiencing the same issue since the update to new version of PatchMyPC, didn't have this issue on older versions. I suspect it may be related to the fact I have a bit of software that autohides my desktop icons after 5 seconds of inactivity - the software is DesktopOK but I tried a different one AutoHideIcons and same result.

Yeah it looks like the don't care enough  about this issue to investigate further at the moment. Ive never had a reply. It's still happening and just todsy the new updater broke my Bitwarden install completely as well. Had lots more issues since moving to the new one but doesn't look like they're prioritising support of these issues.

We are taking a look into this and will see if we can repro with those apps.

Mine seems to do it with every app. I tried turning off icon hiding but it made no difference, I also completely removed PatchMyPC and deleted program files, app data etc folders and reinstalled but still same doesn't delete desktop icons it creates.
As a workaround I was wondering what windows account it's using and maybe I can block that users desktop write access?
