V4 was installed, ran unnoticed, every day, never any anything for anyone other than knowing where the log files were, yet v5 blasts the ability to run every day, same time, alway silently, etc.
Did I miss something or is there a new way to inhibit the OS from 'reminders' via notifications or leaving any residuals?

Hi there, Can you try again in the next few days and let us know please?

joeblow

OK, but is there some change or anything I should be aware of that makes it different now?

Omar (Patch My PC)

There was just a problem updating v4 lately, so it wasn't up to date for a while! But the issue is fixed, and now it's up to date :)

joeblow

Fantastic!  I'll let you know my experiences.

Just to be clear however, previously, for years, I'd place PatchMyPC in any folder somewhere, schedule it, it ran, it had no interactions whatsoever, 100% silent, always updated, left no traces of its operations, no desktop icons, no menu items, no traces anywhere and the bottom line is it was 100% functional with cloaked functionality, totally masked.  Just to be clear, this v5 "fix" you reference as 'up to date' resumes that preferred mode I liked?

No, I never had the need to use the Portable version, so the questions remain; All the same as it was or not?  (NON-portable version)

Omar (Patch My PC)

Ah so you mean the silent schedule? Yes of course this is available in v5 since day one :)

To avoid confusion, I'll start over.
When you say "Ah, Yes of course this is available in v5 since day one", I'm aware that there is a 'silent' setting, but my point is:

1> v4 I'd put in any folder, deep away from any 'normal' installation folder, execute it, it ran, there were no traces of it ever had been run, files left behind for someone to ask "What's that", there was never an item in the Start menu or Apps menu, and if I wanted to manually change, add or invoke something, or look at the associate log file, I'd navigate to the "planting" location and do what I wanted or needed to do, done and over.

2> v5 installs into a C:\ProgramFiles\PatchMyPC directory that gets created, an icon is generated and placed on the desktop, an added new entry is in the Start menu and it is "visible".

So, can I achieve the exact same functionality that was previously enjoyed in v4 as describe with my references or is there a "special" way to install v5 to avoid the messy broadcasting that is as I provided in my summary example?

Finally, when you go to the 'Schedule' and wanting to achieve the similar interface of v4 in v5, it's confusing.  Now, v4 gets 'upgraded' to v5, removes the v4 from its "hidden" location, puts an added entry in the start menu, places an icon on the desktop, and, disables or does not carry forward the previous schedule settings, etc.  When going to the scheduler in v5 and turning it ON, the TIME is (as an example) MON-TUE-WED-THUR-FRI-SAT-SUN, the drop down TIME is say 3AM (or anything you wish to set it for) + AM or PM, and REPEAT is ONCE EVERY DAY, DOES NOT REPEAT, ONCE EVERY WEEK, MONTH YEAR, etc..  The confusing part is under TIME why is MON selected if ONCE EVERY DAY is selected?  Is the TIME where the drop down day is being show just referencing the DAY (such as if it shows MON, and today is MON, what/why is that even there if you have choices that override, and displaying the DAY has zero relevance? (I need to be understanding of why that is, as it confusing).
