Title: New Intune functionality to creep in on PMPC's turf?
Post by: steadybird on August 03, 2026, 07:28:51 PM
Hi All,

I'd previously heard whispers that Intune was bringing out native patch management for third party apps in the near future. My CIO is now throwing KB's at me on some GA/Preview functionality in Intune that allegedly performs just that.

I am still very early on reading into all of this but my gut instinct tells me that PMPC is winning hands down against the Intune functionality... But I was hoping that people more knowledgeable than I could summarise the big failings of Intune, the big wins for PMPC, or direct me to a blog post that has already done a great breakdown and comparison of the two?

My CIO is on a budget purging spree lately and is eyeing off PMPC as an unnecessary additional expense if we can get the functionality within our existing application/vendor stack (i.e. M365/Intune). Even if it were the exact same cost for the exact same features to Intune & PMPC the CIO would still likely want to cut PMPC to reduce vendor bloat.

My initial suspicions are that PMPC still stands strongly against the Intune implementation but would like to get some ammunition and receipts to be able to challenge the CIO on their assumptions.

If anyone has any insight into this I am all ears.

Appreciated!

I'll let other respond with their thoughts on the differences.

We do have the below blog post from when Enterprise App Management was released a few years ago. Bryan does a great job comparing things.
