Title: Acrobat vs Acrobat Reader?
Post by: iamr00t on July 08, 2026, 03:38:00 PM
What is the difference between the Adobe Acrobats? From my experience with Acrobat as a product, Acrobat Reader is universal. It can be whichever product the user is licensed for when they are logged in to Acrobat or the Creative Cloud Desktop sans components which install when it detects a license for that user. How do they differ? Will Acrobat work as reader for a user with no Acrobat license? I did try looking for this in the forums before I posted, BTW.

Hey iamr00r,

We have a great KB article covering the differences between the various flavors of Adobe Acrobat and Reader:

Let me know if that helps to clear things up here! Basically, you have standalone versions that are patched with their respective MSP packages. Then you have the universal installer that is licensed/feature based. The universal installer should be able to replace and update the standalone versions in most scenarios!
