Title: patch my pc on ARM
Post by: apricoto on April 30, 2026, 09:09:27 AM
I have searched forum, find nothing about this.

I just bought a Surface laptop with snapdragon plus processor.

I am getting error message when trying to install Patch My Pc (msi installer version).  "ARM pc mandatory prerequisite not correctly installed"

is this app not compatible with ARM?

Hi there, the Home Updater should work fine on ARM could you send a screenshot of what you are seeing?

never mind.  Problem was a meeting between my install methodology and the  installation app.  I click on installation app, then get a message from malwarebytes firewall notifier that a program (ms installer) is trying to communicate outbound.  I give it access for 10 minutes, and install continues. Installation fails because the 'prerequisite' file wasn't downloaded by MSI. if I then try again (now knowing that Updater should work on ARM), in that 10 minute window,  apparently the install procedure gets the prerequiste ARM file and install completes successfully. If it had tried again after being blocked the first time, rather going ahead with installation when it didn't have the prerequisite yet,  things would have worked fine the first time.

Some installation apps, when blocked from getting a file they need to complete successfully, throw up an error message immediately, with a 'try again' button.  I don't have a problem with those apps.
