Title: Incorrect detection of winamp
Post by: jvidal on April 07, 2026, 12:08:59 AM
Hi!
I have winamp 5.92 installed, but pmpc is incorrectly detecting is as "v1.7" and recommending update to the same version I already have.
The problem is that pmps is detecting the file Uninstall_Winamp_Lang_Packs.exe (which is, in fact, v1.7) instead of the actual winamp executable (winamp.exe)

"Winamp Language packs".
but you are completely missing the point here. the problem is that PMPC is analyzing the wrong executable, as i said in my first post.

I know, we have to exclude that title from detecting for now.
Can you try again now please?

Sorry about this!
But can you send a screenshot from PMPC for this issue, and a screenshot from Add/Remove Products for this Winamp Language Packs?

It's because so I can see the exact issue and the exact names, it will help fixing it!

it's like I said. PmPC is incorrectly detecting the entry "Winamp language packs" v1.7 as if it were Winamp. the version "1.7" comes from the language packs uninstaller, located in the same folder where the REAL winamp lies, which is winamp.exe.

I got some new info. Although winamp is insalled and it works fine, for some reason, there is no uninstall entry for Winamp, only for the language packs, that's probably where the confusion is coming from.

Screenshots or diagnostic file is how we can see the issue and proceed with the fix.
Right now we are not seeing any issue at all.

I explained VERY clearly what the situation was, anyway, here's the screenshot.
There's no such thing as "winamp 1.7". what PMPC is doing is confusing WINAMP LANGUAGE PACK v1.7 with WINAMP.

We need a screenshot for that name in Add/Remove Products, we can't see any "Winamp Language Pack" in here!
