Title: Getting SSL connection error
Post by: Stuff4Me on March 19, 2026, 09:04:36 AM
Home Updater has been working for a while but started giving this error recently.  Upgrading to v5.4.3.1 didn't make a difference.  This is on a Windows 11 machine with up to date patches.  I tried running it in a VM and it works on the same machine so it shouldn't be network related.

Any advice on what to try?

We are sorry, but there was an error.
Message: The SSL connection could not be established, see inner exception.
Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.

Are you still seeing this issue, this is likely something specific to anti-virus or a security block local to you machine. We aren't seeing any errors like this reported from others.

Yes, still seeing the issue.  I re-installed and disabled the Windows firewall but no difference.

This was reported by others last year:  https://forum.patchmypc.com/index.php?topic=8804.0

This got fixed with a Dell network card driver update.
