Title: PMPC Portal Multi-Architecture Updates
Post by: JEwens on May 21, 2025, 04:38:03 PM
I have users that have 32 bit or 64 bit Firefox installed in my environment, but when I create a deployment in the PMPC Portal, I have to choose which one to update.

I created the 64 bit deployment, but now I can't create a 32 bit one. What happens to the 32 bit users? Do I have to just keep using the PMPC Server App for these situations?

You can still make a 32-bit deployment, I imagine the issue you are hitting is that two deployments cannot have the same name. You'll want to update the "Display Name" when making the 32-bit deployment of Firefox, then you should be able to proceed through the rest of the wizard.

That makes sense. I'll give that a try! Thanks

One more question on this. I'm moving Win32 app updates from the Publisher to the Portal. If a program like 7-zip is being listed as unmanaged and it supports both 64-bit and 32-bit Architecture, do I need to create an Update for both?

Unfortunately in the Discovery information it doesn't tell me what architecture the install is.

and I guess I'd have the same question about Install Context. Do I need two programs when something is for User and System?

If you are unsure what is installed in your environment, then yes, you can deploy both and look at installation results to determine more accurately what is installed. Unfortunately, Intune inventory data is typically not specific enough for us to determine what the architecture or install context of the software is, however, our applicability rules are robust enough to determine this, so only the proper update will install on the endpoints when deployed.

Thank you Andrew. Better to know at the start instead of going back and fixing them all!
