I was wondering if using Delta Downloads was still a problem with PatchMyPC. See:
https://patchmypc.com/third-party-updates-fail-to-download-in-configmgr-1910-if-download-delta-update-enabled-0x80d02002
We implemented the workaround back in 2021, but never heard of any changes to its status. I can't seem to find any recent information on this issue and the link to the UserVoice request is not working.
It would be nice to use Delta Downloads. We plan to test, but thought I'd ask before we dig too deep.
Hey Klusa,
Thank you for reaching out.
As of May 2025, the issue with third-party updates failing to download in Configuration Manager (ConfigMgr) when "Allow clients to download delta content when available" is enabled remains unresolved.
Patch My PC has confirmed that enabling delta downloads can cause third-party updates to fail with error code 0x80d02002. The root cause is that delta content is not applicable to third-party updates, leading to download failures when this setting is enabled .
From Microsoft, there is no indication that the specific problem with third-party updates has been addressed. For now, Keep Delta Downloads Disabled: Continue using the workaround of disabling "Allow clients to download delta content when available" in client settings to ensure successful deployment of third-party updates.
I will check more internally if I can find more information around this.
Regards,
Raunak
