Title: How to update software without losing personal settings on Windows?

After updating some software on my computer, I noticed that the shortcuts on the screen are missing or have changed icons. Has anyone encountered this and knows how to fix it so that after updating the software, the shortcuts remain the same as before? :'(

@Quithard1941, curious if you have the option to delete shortcuts after updating in the settings?

I can see shortcuts being deleted after uninstalling an app, but why would they be deleted after an update?
