Title: Updating Brave wipes Sync profile
Post by: Samour on December 20, 2024, 02:48:09 PM
When using PatchMyPC to update Brave, it wipes the sync profile on the primary account. This is extremely inconvenient. There is no issue when using Brave's native updater.

Does this happen any time you update Brave? We are simply using the silent install to update it.

More or less yes. I am usually just using Brave's auto-updater instead now. Today I used PatchMyPC for a change. This time it didn't wipe the sync profile but it corrupted most of the extensions. I had to manually repair them one by one.

Could you send the PatchMyPC log at C:\ProgramData\PatchMyPCHomeUpdater? That odd it's causing you issues - we should simply be calling the vendors installer, so I can't imagine what that would cause an issue.

Hey @Samour,

It looks like you are still running v4. Could you try to install v5 and see how that works for you: https://patchmypc.com/product/home-updater
