Title: Advanced Insights - Dell Docks - Where is this information shown?
Post by: PaulKlerkx on March 19, 2024, 05:46:18 PM
Hi, new to PMPC, just setting up Advanced insights. Found I had to install Dell command monitor to see dock information, so I have done that and done a hardware inventory.  The console says the data is being collected, but I can't find it displayed anywhere in the AI console. Where do I find it?

Hello!

There is currently no dashboard available for this data in the Advanced Insights reporting portal. The data is being collected in preparation for the dashboard that will be added in the near future.

You can view the collected data in the DB, query against it, and see it in the resource explorer for endpoints that have collected it via the inventory extensions.

OK< thanks.  makes me feel a little better that "I couldn't find it, because it wasn't there".  :)
I can see it in Resource explorer.

It's interesting how often similar situations occur, where tools collect valuable data, but the final functionality for displaying it isn't ready yet. This reminds me of a case when I used the https://edubrain.ai/ai-math-solver/ (https://edubrain.ai/ai-math-solver/) platform for solving math problems. I uploaded an equation, and the system solved it, but at first, I couldn't figure out where to view the detailed steps of the solution. After some searching, I discovered that this feature was hidden in a less obvious menu. It's understandable that developers often focus on data collection first and only later work on user-friendly interfaces, but this can be a bit confusing for users.

So, it's great that you've managed to find the data through Resource Explorer. At least it confirms that the system is working and data is being collected correctly. However, it raises the question: how convenient is it to use this data without a proper dashboard? In real-world environments, time is a valuable resource, and every additional step makes the process more complicated.

Hopefully, the developers will implement the promised dashboard soon, making everything more intuitive and accessible. It would also be great if they included some sort of notification for new features so users don't miss updates. For now, adapting to the current setup is a learning experience in itself. 😊
