Title: 64 Bit browsers not offered
Post by: vivekkowshik on March 13, 2018, 12:26:03 AM
I find that the software list does not show the 64 bit versions of Chrome and Opera Browsers. An existing 64 bit installation of those browsers shows up as a 32 bit version, and the software offers to update it.

In the past I have tried updating through PatchMyPC, but the software downloads and installs the 32 bit version instead of the 64 bit version. I am then compelled to manually correct it. Please make the changes to your software on priority. As you know many people have shifted completely to 64 bit sofware.

Did you actually run the update? It should update to the 64bit version. Does the name actually have 32 bit at the end or just nothing? The thing with Chrome and Opera is they install under HKCU in the registry and not HKLM. With HKLM, there is a 32 and 64 bit hive so it's easier for us to differentiate between architectures. I believe with Chrome and Opera we will download what matches the OS. You can monitor the PatchMyPC.log to see the download URL.
