My problem was fixed by uninstalling using Revo paid version (which found lots of leftover registry entries and files), rebooting, then downloading and installing the latest version of Patch My PC Home Updater.

Chrome needs to be updated to Version 137.0.7151.69

Reason?

https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2025-5419

Out of bounds read and write in V8 in Google Chrome prior to 137.0.7151.68 allowed a remote attacker to potentially exploit heap corruption via a crafted HTML page. (Chromium security severity: High)

Yeah I see that a few of my pilot users reporting back to Intune that a restart is required. But my CIO has a successful installation. So somewhat stabbing in the dark lol.

For now though I've just set both apps in the conflict list just in case and extended the notification period out a bit.

Yeah, all my autopilot required apps, and any available apps are as a standard set to foreground processing.
Only PMPC published "Updates" I've left as background processing.

I've previously temporarily changed the install cmd in Intune to a one liner to copy the contents to a specific folder but would rather not do that if I can avoid it. Also trying for more automation instead of manual interventions.

I suppose as a workaround I could add a pre/postscript which could dump a copy of the package contents if its run on a specific named device. Hmm I'll give it some thought. Thanks!

Quote from: steadybird on June 02, 2025, 04:52:41 PMThey were kinda rambling as they ran past my door and wasnt able to really confirm which was which.

Ive not been able to get access to their device to take a deeper dive. The CIO is rather assertive and any suggestion they press the wrong button doesn't go well lol.

But I would certainly take a look when I can.

My query was less to do with this one specific incident and more as an overarching thing around how PMPC conflict resolution works with shared prerequisites such as VS C++. Can PMPC update the conflicting processes list for VS C++ when I add new apps to be managed? Or am I needed to know which apps are using it and update the list myself?

We don't deploy edge components via PMPC. Is webview a part of edge or VS C++?

Ooo, C-Level, I should have known lol.

We don't have any 'Dynamic' features to prepopulate the Conflicting process list. Although I haven't really seen a lot of reports of things like Visual C++ or .Net Desktop Runtime causing applications to auto-close when they update. They typically update fine in the background, but usually require Restarts to finish.

Quote from: JEwens on June 02, 2025, 02:57:00 PMThanks Michael! It would be good to know at a glance which ones can't be updated. I would also suggest some way to know when an App is Binary Free and requires a download.

Its does look like we have some existing 'IDEA's for the Binary Free filter. Maybe give those a vote so that you are subscribed to Updates should we add that in the future.

I don't see one for filtering based on if we do or don't have updates. Definitely submit one for that if you are interested.

There are a few apps in our catalog where we do not provide updates, only base installs. .Net Desktop Runtime is one of those apps. A few others include: Bloomberg Terminal and Kofax PowerPDF.

We maintain a full list of the applications available for Intune Updates here: https://patchmypc.com/scupcatalog/downloads/PatchMyPC-SupportedProductsList-IntuneUpdatesOnly.csv

This list is also typically available on our supported products page: https://patchmypc.com/supported-products/ however, it looks like the links were dropped when we transitioned to the new website a few days ago, so I'll get that reported to the website team and the links re-enabled soon!

And I see Michael also posted about the same as I was typing my reply!

Some Products like 'Adobe Acrobat' only have certain Assignment Types based on the 'Installer Type' that you select. For Adobe Acrobat, if you select 'EXE' then you only get 'Available,Required,Uninstall', but if you select the 'MSP' installer type, then you only get the 'Add Update Only' assignment type. This is because Adobe only provides updates in msp files.

For products like .NET Desktop Runtime, we don't have 'Update' packages, only 'Apps'. This is true whether it's the Publisher or Cloud. See the below Support Products page and the Reference numbers next to the product for what we support.
