FYI: I have noticed the following unannounced recent changes to the Home Updater App Library. The corresponding category of the app is abbreviated in parentheses after the app name below.

I recommend (1) that changes to the App Library be promptly announced by an item in the Home Updater forum rather than waiting for a Home Updater software release and (2) that the status of any related new app requests now be changed from 'SUBMITTED' to 'SHIPPED' in the Ideas Portal.

I have also had the same issue on my son's pc more recently. Re-installing Patch My PC Home Updater ver: 5450.
The old version was uninstalled using Revo Uninstaller, and removing all left over elements.
Installed the new version 5450 and similar to the last person: Marvalsys. It displays the UAC Prompt to run the program then nothing after that, no error, no running program...
I tried re-uninstalling using Revo, also checked to make sure the registry was clean at "HKLM\Software\PatchMyPC" no longer there...
Also cleared out the %TEMP% folder and C:\WINDOWS\TEMP folders.
Made sure .NET Framework 3.5 in Windows features was disabled and re-enabled after a restart between each selection.
Uninstalled the newer .NET Framework 10 SDK and .NET Framework Runtime 9.0.20, then re-installed .NET Framework 10 SDK.
Also ran following in command prompt:
CHKDSK C: /F /V /R - on SSD for main drive where windows is installed.
Then ran following DSIM Commands to verify system files ok:
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
SFC /scannow
It fixed a System File Corruption so I then re-started the pc and tried to re-install PatchMyPC Home Updater on it, and still nothing after the UAC prompt.

I get the feeling somehow that my son's pc has updated the .NET Framework at some stage and I'm wondering if Patch My PC is still looking for the old runtime, but can't find it...

Any ideas anyone???

Quote from: dking02 on July 08, 2026, 04:26:59 PMI noticed earlier this morning (Wed, 8 Jul 2026) that PMPC HomeUpdater 5.4.5.0 had been announced on MajorGeeks.com and posted for download. However, I did not see this version listed in the PMPC Release Notes nor did I get the update when I ran "Check for Updates" within PMPC. I downloaded the update from MajorGeeks and successfully installed 5.4.5.0.

I found the following description of 5.4.5.0 on the internal beta channel.

5.4.5.0
Enhancements
• Improved UI/UX on Scheduler view.
• Enhanced registry matching logic to support multiple versions of same app

I then checked the download available on  PMPC Home Updater's own public website. It appears that the beta (preview) version has erroneously been released on that website and therefore posted by MajorGeeks on their official mirror site. As mentioned above, 5.4.5.0 is not found when checking for an update within PMPC while running 5.4.4.0 and does not appear in the PMPC release notes.

Also please note the following ---

Attached below is a screenshot of the Patch My PC page on MajorGeeks. The text and screenshots reflect the version 4 of the program. The last of the three download links (labeled "Download (Updater)") is even a download of 4.5.0.9 installer. Since MajorGeeks is a go-to  site for obtaining timely announcements and downloads of software updates, particularly on Windows, please prepare and coordinate the appropriate updates to the Patch My PC material on MajorGeeks.
I noticed winget updated to 5.4.5.0 early as well. Is the winget manifest maintained directly by the PMPC team, or is an automated pipeline pulling pre-release builds from the site?

The original issue with the name of an installed library portable app not including the word "Portable" in its name on the Uninstaller tab appears to have been resolved since the previous reply and therefore I am closing this topic.

Notes:

(1) I see two potential problems with including the current Uninstaller tab in Home Updater:

(a) Bulk uninstalling of apps: The only additional capability provided by the Uninstaller tab is to allow multiple apps to be uninstalled in one operation. Otherwise all apps listed on the Uninstaller tab, can already be uninstalled individually from the My Apps view. However, removal of apps can become a serious problem in the hands of inexperienced users and one that probably cannot be easily resolved.

(b) Uninstalling of non-portable apps not in the App Library: The unintended uninstalling of programs which are not in the App Library cannot be easily corrected by simply reinstalling the apps via Home Updater. The user may not know how to reinstall the program, may not have access to the installer file or original media, or may be precluded from reinstalling the program because of licensing restrictions for a paid or restricted use app.

(2) As previously noted, I see cases where multiple components of a non-portable apps are separately listed in the Uninstaller tab, whereas only a single entry for the entire program is listed in My Apps or in Control Panel-Programs and Features (Example: one entry for Python in My Apps but 1 entry PLUS 8 additional entries for components in the Uninstaller tab). Also minor differences in the names of installed library apps between the My Apps and Uninstaller views persist, presumably due to use of the Display Name from the uninstaller data in the registry for the app name on the Uninstaller tab rather than using the displayed name of the app from the My tab view.

@Michiel, I've followed your instructions and the problem seems to have sorted itself out. The programs appear to be working normally again.

Thankyou for your help.

We'll be adding the 64-bit and ARM64 versions of this software to our catalog as well. 2607 is the first release of a 64-bit installer.

Uninstalling the WSUS role is part of the prerequisites to an In-Place upgrade of ConfigMgr
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/intune/configmgr/core/servers/manage/upgrade-on-premises-infrastructure#before-upgrade

But using the existing SUSDB will result in the duplicate Category regardless of that prerequisite step.

If you really want to only have 1 Category, then you would have to rebuild your SUSDB and WSUSContent from scratch.

So there's no way to just uninstall WSUS prior to the upgrade and then reinstall it? We don't really care about having to recreate the baseline updates.
