Brave browser update failing

I'm having problems carrying out updates to the Brave browser 64 bit, which have happened on the last 3 or 4 updates. An update is detected correctly and PMPC downloads the new version and appears to carry out the installation correctly. The PMPC screen now shows that Brave is up to date. But Brave now auto launches with a new window and a welcome message - I think this is new behaviour from them. PMPC changes back to show "outdated" and sure enough, Brave itself displays "Update available" in the top right corner.

If I update manually in Brave, it completes correctly and PMPC also now indicates the new version number in green. My hunch is that the new window Welcome screen is causing confusion.

I will take screengrabs when the next update appears.
