PMPC tries but fails to update Visual Studio Code from 1.121.0 to 1.22.0. The installer file that it downloads and names Microsoft Visual Studio Code-1.122.0 is actually the binary for version 1.21.0 that is already installed (confirm by looking at the Properties of downloaded .exe).

As of the time of this post (2200 PDT, 28 May 2026), the source code for VSCode 1.22 has been released on github.com/microsoft/vscode but the binaries available for download on code.visualstudio.com are still at 1.121.

I run multiple SW updaters. While the update of VSCode to 1.122 failed via PMPC. I tried a few minutes later and the update succeeded via winget using UniGetUI.

VSCode release 1.22.0 has been replaced by 1.22.1 and PMPC is now successfully installing or updating VSCode to 1.122.1. VSCode 1.122.1 is a bugfix for two issues with the original 1.22.0 release.

The official VSCode download site (link and screenshot below) provides downloads for Windows, Linux, and macOS but inconveniently does not clearly indicate the version that is currently available. The latest version and related changes/issues are documented in the release notes which are accessible from the "Updates" link at the top of the download page.
