Hi,
I have installed the release 5.3.0.0 in three laptops computer running with windows 11 (one was running with windows 10, and I upgraded it the last week)
The automatic scheduler is not working, I need to enter manualy and make the upgrades, I changed to when I open make the upgrades manually. it works only if I open the application
I made a lot of changes, daily, the time, the day, etc and nothing happens, I saved the changes, I deleted the application and reinstalled, I deleted the schedule and started again.
Can you please tell me what's is wrong?

Thanks!

Daniel
PD, the release 4 was working without any problem

Hi @danodes,

Thank you for your patience, and we're sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with the task scheduler.

To help us better understand and resolve the problem, could you please try using the latest preview version of the application? This version may include fixes or improvements that address the issue you're encountering.

To switch to the preview version, please follow these steps:

1. Open the application settings.
2. Enable the option "Use beta channel for checking for Patch My PC updates."
3. Navigate to the About page.
4. Click the "Check for updates" button.

This will allow you to install the latest preview build.

We appreciate your cooperation, and please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or need further assistance.

Hi, Thanks for your reply.

I followed your instrucions, the beta is showing a notice that I have pending updates (this is new) but it's not doing the updates automaticaly.
The great of the old 4.x software was that I have it installed in my relative's computers and it's great because I know that they cannot to do any upgrade

Igor (Patch My PC)

Hi @danodes,

You're absolutely right - the new 5.x version introduces a notice to inform users when updates are available, which is a recent addition. However, please rest assured that version 5.x does support automatic updates as well. The manual update option is simply provided as an additional method to upgrade the application.

So just like in version 4.x, your relatives' installations can still receive updates automatically without requiring any action on their part.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or need assistance!

We have a misundestanging, I receive ONLY the notification, I never receive any automatic update with 5.3.0.0 and now with 5.3.0.4
I receive every two hours the notification, but not the automatic update every day at 7 PM as I saved.
including I deleted the schedule and I started a new schedule,
As I told you, at this moment I'm testing in four machines, and all of them are with the same problem, NO AUTOMATIC UPDATES.
2 are running 5.3.0.0 and 2 5.3.0.4

I"m thinking to downgrade to 4.x in some of them

Igor (Patch My PC)

@danodes, could you please attach diagnostic zip from 5.3.0.4 for further investigation?

Igor (Patch My PC)

@danodes, thanks for sharing the diagnostic ZIP for version 5.3.0.4. I didn't find any issues related to apps update scheduled task. However, according to the logs, a task for apps auto-update was created on 9/20/2025 at 20:33:44, with its first run scheduled for today (9/22/2025 at 19:00:00). Let's wait and see if it runs as expected.

Hi, I'm sending again the file.
Zoom is without update since the last week.
I changed the automatic update everytime that I open the application.
My computer is ON since the last week I didn't turned it off

danodes

Hi,
I'm sending more information.
As I told you, I have four machines at home with the same issue.
Yesterday, I upgraded another one to the beta channel 5.3.0.4
I disabled the automatic update and enabled it again (to be sure that the schedule was reset)
At this moment, the system displayed an upgrade for Adobe Acrobat.
The time to run the auto-update was this morning at 9:30 AM, not at 10:30. I see that Acrobat and Calibre are pending upgrade.
I'm sending the log file of this computer.

Thanks!

Hi, I solved the issue. It's quite strange; it's related to the Windows Task Scheduler.

I created a new task, identical to the one it made for the program, but with my user, not SYSTEM, I added the argument /silent.

The application runs with automatic upgrades when it opens.

At this moment, I'm worried about one computer (my company's laptop) because I need to change the password every time, and I guess I will need to change the password in the task too.

I will continue playing with that

Thanks for your support

danodes

I found the problem.

I deleted all the tasks (my task and the 3 that made the application)

I restarted the PMPC and created a new task, adjusting the time accordingly.

I entered the Task Scheduler and I saw three tasks, (Why??? the original at 7 PM, and the modified at a different time)

I modified the new task, and when I reviewed the actions, the task scheduler displayed an error with the "start in" value.

I deleted it, and now it's working, I tested in two of the four computers I have at home.

Igor (Patch My PC)

@danodes, Thank you for your observation and help. We'll make the necessary adjustments to the task's recommended configuration.

Regarding the three tasks - yes, that's correct. In the current version (5.3.0.4) of Home Updater, the following scheduled tasks are present:
Patch My PC Home Updater - Check Apps - Checks for outdated apps and notifies the user. By default, it runs every N hours (2 by default) and can be disabled in the Scheduler view.
Patch My PC Home Updater - Update Apps - Handles the updating of outdated apps. This task can be created and configured in the Scheduler view.
Patch My PC Home Updater - Self Updater - Manages the upgrade of the app itself. This task cannot be disabled or removed.

Hi,
Again, after the upgrade to 5.3.1.0, the problem reappeared, and I solved it the same way, by deleting the "start in" information.

It's strange because the 2-hour notification has the same information, and it works.

I'm glad to continue testing if you need me.

Igor (Patch My PC)

Hello @danodes,

Thank you for your help in improving the application.
When you get a chance, could you please create a new task via the Scheduler view with the following parameters?

Time:
Today (the day of creation)
Any time that is at least one hour from now

Repeat:
Once every day

Run ASAP When Missed: True
Task Enabled: True
Task Visibility: False
Run Whether or Not Logged In: False

Please allow the task to trigger at least once and if the issue persists, please attach the latest diagnostic ZIP file for investigation.
