Black screen

  I just dowloaded the latest version and set it going. During the updates of several apps, the background desktop turned black, with just the Patchmypc window showing.
When the procedure finished, I was left with a black screen.
Not even Task Manager would reset things.
A PC restart was neeeded.
Why?

Thanks for the report. This is likely something odd with the installer for one of the apps being updated. We haven't seen anything like this before, so it's not expected behavior. A restart usually clears it up, as you saw, but if it happens again, feel free to share which apps were being updated and we'll take a closer look.

Might also be helpful to check the logs in Event Viewer for clues.

Likely a display adapter driver conflict.
